Remembering Marlene Waters

Marlene Walters, age 56, passed away after a brief battle
with cancer on Sunday June 26, 2022. She is survived by her
two sons, Johnathan and Jordan Blassingame who made up
the entirety of her world. Marlene was born in Jamaica,
West Indies, and moved to New Jersey in 1976. She
attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and the Academy of
the Sacred Heart in Hoboken. She graduated from New
Jersey State University with a bachelor’s degree in
Accounting. Marlene was an avid sports fan who fiercely
defended her favorite sports players, especially Steph
Curry. She was the quintessential “boy mom” who cheered
from the sidelines of their athletic pursuits and embraced
the joy of raising her sons and watching them grow into
young men. She was employed at Piazza and Associates of
Princeton, NJ as a property manager and was committed to
improving the living experiences for all her residents,
especially the young children who loved to get off the school
bus and run into her office to get ice cream.

Marlene touched many lives and will be missed by many.
Besides her children, Marlene loved spending time with her
family. She is also survived by her brothers, Neville and
Gary, sister-in-law TraceyAnne, nieces, Chelsea Batcheller
(Justin), Tiana, and Morgan, great niece and nephew
Gabriella and Lorenzo, and her beloved aunts, cousins, and
friends. She is predeceased by her mother Eleanor and

father Neville.
