Don’t Believe the Hype…You Can Have it All
Hollywood’s new ‘It’ couple exchanged vows on Nov 5, 2023, in a lavish oceanfront wedding at the fabulous Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, CA. The Bookie and Queen Sugar actor Omar J. Dorsey and Genius MLK/X and Gilded Age director Crystle Roberson Dorsey declared their love and eternal commitment to one another in front of 80 of their closest friends and family including the likes of Anthony Mackie, Tasha Smith and Ava DuVernay all of whom savored the rare air of two of the brightest talents in Hollywood in the merging of lives. The wedding covered exclusively by People Magazine boasted enviable details and nuances of swooning moments and unforgettable tender exchanges against the backdrop of the dreamiest dynamics imaginable.
The following month, the two would enjoy a continuum on New Year’s Eve, the most romantic night of the year. At Casa Del Mar with no less than an extraordinary glow of love, romance, with an abundance of celebrity sightings, it was in a word…magical. It was as if Hollywood was ushering in their new couple goals; their new inspiration for love and family and Crystle and Omar happily accepted the welcoming with open arms.
“We are both very proud of each other. We both came up against all odds professionally and we are both cheerleaders for each other,” Dorsey shared with People magazine. “We also admire the hard work and passion each other show in everything they do. Work, friendship, play… everything.”
The two met at the Toronto Film Festival where Omar was premiering his new film, Harriet. They connected on a mutual love of Gordon Parks and the Atlanta Falcons. Both passionate about the work they do and uber supportive of each other’s milestones, they both exhibit qualities that remind us that every generation gives birth to great, iconic love stories.
The fairy tale gets better if that’s even possible. The wedding reception doubled as a pregnancy and gender reveal and the onlookers were emotionally full. There were cheers, tears, applause…ultimately a room full of ecstatic happy. One can’t help but realize that one day these moments will be documented in the history books and all in attendance would’ve experienced a little slice of ‘ I was there!’.
The Selma actor, whose list of credits also include the Halloween franchise, Harriet, and Power Book III: Raising Kanan (to name a few) is presently starring in (HBO) Max’s new hit comedy series Bookie, alongside Sebastian Maniscalco and it’s already been renewed for a second season (we told you it gets better).
His beautiful wife has enjoyed a huge year in her own right having directed in addition to HBO’s The Gilded Age, Genius: MLK/X for National Geographic, BMF and more, including an episode of the new season of Reasonable Doubt.
The two Georgia natives are expecting their beautiful baby boy in May and will live the life of all our dreams in Los Angeles while they continue to make strides in film and television. Suffice to say, they’re breathing new life into the American Dream.
