NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Eric Adams today launched the start of NYC & Company’s NYC Winter Outing event with a lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building Observatory. Mayor Adams kicked off the event alongside Michael James Scott, who plays the role of the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin, and Charlotte d’Amboise, who plays the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, as well as performer Michael Scirrotto. The building will be lit in blue and white this evening in honor of the NYC Winter Outing.
“In New York City, we like to combine the very best of what we have to offer,” said Mayor Eric Adams. “What better way to celebrate our city than by supporting our incredible restaurants, hotels, Broadway shows, and attractions. Thanks to vaccinations and testing, we can bring our city back stronger than ever and enjoy everything that makes this place the greatest city in the world.”
“We are pleased to bring NYC Winter Outing back this year, with safety at the forefront thanks to the City’sKey to NYC requirements,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO, NYC & Company. “The program offers exceptional deals on dining, Broadway, arts and culture, performing arts, tours, and hotels during a time with less crowds. We encourage locals and visitors to show their support for businesses, big and small, across all five boroughs by taking advantage of these only-in-New York City experiences now.”
“Today’s lighting ceremony underscores our message that New York City is open for business,” said Charles Flateman, NYC & Company Board Chair and Executive Vice President, The Shubert Organization. “With the launch of NYC Winter Outing, we are supporting and boosting businesses across New York City’s five boroughs, showcasing the best in Broadway, arts and culture, dining, hotels, attractions, and more.”
